Update from Xcel Energy for the Estes Park area

Cameron Peak Fire Wildfire
Announcements – 10/27/2020

Update from Xcel Energy for the Estes Park area:

"We are in the process of restoring gas and our crews will being restoring service to your homes this evening through midnight. We will commence relights on 10/27 @ 7am. We will visit each home and if you are in immediate need for service please contact customer care at 1-800-895-2999.

Someone 18 years or older must be home to allow our crews to enter to relight your appliances and remain until they have finished. We will go door-to-door through the neighborhood and will leave a door hanger if you are not home when we stop by. Please do not turn on your valve to your meter and wait for us to arrive on site to relight.

We have delivered electric space heaters that can be used until our crews arrive to relight your natural gas appliances. Please use safety precautions when using space heaters, following the manufacturer’s safety warnings. Do not leave them unattended. If you do not see the space heaters near the front door of your home, please stop by the Quality Inn located at 1450 Big Thompson Ave until 10 pm tonight. We will return to the Quality Inn on 10/27 @ 8 am if additional heaters are needed.

As an important safety reminder, if you ever detect a sulfur or “rotten egg” smell inside or near your home, it could be the odorant we put in natural gas to help detect leaks. If you notice that smell, leave your home immediately. Do not turn any electrical devices on or off and never use any phone until you are outside and safely away from the area. In a life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1. Thank you for your patience as we work through this challenging event."
