DEBRIS FLOW BRIEFING FOR BOTH APPLE AND CRANSTON BURN SCARS (SEE RELATED PDF DOCUMENT BELOW LEFT):
Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms will develop over the mountains each day through Wednesday. Coverage looks like it will be most widespread on Tuesday. The thunderstorms will be hit and miss, and there is low confidence on whether a thunderstorm with brief heavy rain and gusty winds will move over the burn scars. If a thunderstorm were to make a direct hit on the Apple Fire scar (low probability, high impact), then rainfall thresholds for debris flows could easily be met. Monitoring radar trends will be key each day, staying in touch with our forecasters, and we will provide notification if there is an imminent threat.
