Tonasket, WA – Anglin Fire – Despite the extreme heat, firefighters had another successful day yesterday.  Crews were able to continue mop around the fire as well as working on rehabilitation of areas affected by the fire and suppression efforts.  The Anglin fire is now 80% contained at 1728 acres (acreage increase due to more accurate mapping).  Today, some firefighters will be demobilized and return to their home units while others may be assigned to different fires around the region.  Firefighters will be on the fire line today to complete the last remaining rehab and mop up tasks.

Green Fire –All evacuation levels have been lifted. The Green fire is 100% contained at 1480 acres.  Both fires started on Monday afternoon and quickly spread due to high temperatures, winds and low relative humidity.  Firefighters from Okanogan County, Washington State Department of Natural Resources and numerous federal, state and local agencies responded to these fast-moving fires.

Blue Lake One Fire – The Blue Lake One fire started yesterday morning.  The fire is located 8 miles north of Concunully, WA and is burning in short grass and timber.  Firefighters from Okanogan County and Washington State Dept of Natural Resources responded and well as firefighters that were assigned to the Anglin fire.  One helicopter was used to support fire suppression efforts.  Today, Northeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team 2 will assume command of the fire that currently is listed at 61 acres and is 0% contained.  Crews will be working on the fire today to finish establishing containment lines and cooling hot spots.

Residents should expect to see smoke from the interior of the fires over the next few days. Firefighters are closely monitoring these areas.

Hot and dry conditions will continue through today.  Humidity recoveries will also be poor overnight with cooling into the weekend and some improvements in humidity’s.
