Miller Gulch Update - September 13, 2019:
Substantial rain fell over the fire area at the beginning of the week, measurements for the area indicate approximately 1.74 inches of precipitation. This moisture coupled with cool weather, has greatly moderated fire behavior. Some wisps of smoke and some smoldering continues to occur within the fire perimeter. Residents of Miller Flats and those recreating in upper Rock Creek may observe smoke, and at times, burning on warm, dry days in the future. The fire is uncontained and uncontrolled and will continue to be so until a season-ending event occurs. The fire is not threatening any structures or infrastructure. The fire continues to be managed under a confine and contain strategy which means natural barriers such as cliff bands, existing burned areas, and prescribed burn areas are being utilized to confine the fire to a certain location. Although some fire activity may occur on warm, dry days, the likelihood of the fire threatening structures or infrastructure in the area is low. Crews will continue to patrol the fire daily by air or on the ground. This Inciweb page will continue to be updated periodically, as fire activity merits.
