Corta Fire Update: August 12

ELKO, NV. - The Corta Fire is 98 percent contained and 16,526 acres. The incident is located 10 miles southeast of Jiggs, Nevada.

In the past few days, crews have put in hand-line to contain the fire, the southern end being the priority. Dozer line, from earlier suppression tactics, has been rehabilitated around the perimeter.

The Burned Area Emergency Response Team from the U.S. Forest Service has been evaluating the fire for the past few days to determine next steps to determine post-fire rehabilitation efforts.

Tomorrow, the Type 3 Incident Management Team will transition the fire back to the local unit in Elko.
