7/26/19- Morning Update - Beeskove Fire

Beeskove Fire Wildfire
Announcements – 7/26/2019

Beeskove Fire - Morning Update (7/26):

Overnight, firefighters observed mostly moderate fire activity with some new fire growth due to ‘thermal belts’ or warm, dry air that fueled burning. The fire continues to burn east toward Mineral Peak, making upslope runs with single and group tree torching.

Burning and rolling debris due to the steep slopes along with rugged terrain remains a challenge for firefighters. Firefighters continue to actively engage and suppress the fire using direct and indirect methods. Today, crews will work on establishing an anchor point on the southern flank of the fire and will work with helicopters conducting water bucket drops to cool and check fire spread.

Additional helicopters have been ordered and are expected to arrive today. An additional hotshot crew arrived last night and will be on the fire today, and one more hotshot crew is expected to arrive within the next two days for a total of three hotshot crews along with two hand crews.

No structures are threatened at this time.

Public and firefighter safety remain top priority. The area closure remains in place, please observe the closure for your own safety and the safety of firefighters. Today’s weather is expected to be warm, dry and breezy.
