Vader Fire Update July 26, 2019

Vader Fire Wildfire
News – 7/26/2019

LAST REGULAR UPDATE

FIRE UPDATE: Yesterday, firefighters continued to make significant progress, further increasing containment to 88%. With the ongoing progress, additional crews were released to other fires in the Great Basin and back to their home units. Today, firefighters will continue to patrol and mop-up hot spots near the fire perimeter and complete fireline repair.

Tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. Great Basin Team 5 will transition fire management back to the Salmon-Challis National Forest Middle Fork Ranger District. Over the coming days, remaining hot spots in the fire’s interior may have the potential to create smoke that could be visible from area roadways. Firefighters, including local engines, will continue to patrol and monitor the fire and implement appropriate actions.

AREA CLOSURE: An area closure remains in effect in the fire area; Thatcher Creek Campground and Vader Creek Day-Use Area are closed, but Trap Creek Campground remains open.

WEATHER: Warm, increasingly cloudy weather is expected with highs over 80 and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Clearing skies and warm weather with low humidity and light winds are expected tomorrow.

FIRE SAFETY: Fires can start quickly and burn in vegetation that seems green. Taking individual responsibility to reduce the chance of wildfire helps keep the public, firefighters, and property safe. Remember, one spark is all it takes to start a wildfire.
