Woodbury Fire Update, June 10, 2019 Evening.

Woodbury Fire Wildfire
News – 6/10/2019

The Woodbury Fire is burning northwest of Superior, Arizona. A weather disturbance moving into the area is causing shifting wind patterns and challenging firefighters. The Central West Zone Type 3 Team will take over command of the fire Tuesday morning, June 11, 2019. The Superstition Wilderness is extremely steep and rugged, and the fire is burning in an area with thick brush, making direct suppression tactics a safety concern for firefighting personnel especially with the excessive heat warnings predicted.

The public is again being asked to avoid the following areas: Hewitt Station Road (FR 357), Happy Camp Canyon (FR 650), and Hewitt Canyon Road (FR 172), as well as Woodbury (TR 114), Roger’s Canyon (TR 109,) and Coffee Flat trails (TR 108). This is not an all-inclusive list, but rather intended to give the public a general idea of where firefighters are driving and working.

Smoke will continue to be visible from US Highway 60 and the communities surrounding the Superstition Wilderness.
