Coldwater Fire Daily Update: 13,000 acres have received fire
CLINTS WELL, Ariz., June 12, 2019 – Firefighters successfully conducted burnout operations along state Route 87 Tuesday, making fire growth about 3,300 acres, putting the fire's total size at about 13,000 acres.
Burnout operations will continue along Forest Road 300 on Wednesday to complete the perimeter of the 17,400 acre planned fire area.
Smoke impacts are still possible from the fuels burning within the fire perimeter, with the greatest potential for impacts along Route 87 from mileposts 281 to 289 and near FR 300. To ensure public and firefighter safety, Arizona Department of Transportation pilot cars may be in use.
Similar wind patterns are foecasted for today, and into the weekend with a chance of smoke moving into Winslow and surrounding areas in the afternoon. As operations continue to near the Mogollon Rim, Payson may experience smoke impacts.
Smoky conditions are anticipated to continue through Thursday, and could linger through the weekend.
