Coldwater Fire Update June 10th, 2019

Coldwater Fire crews to conduct burns along Route 87

The Coldwater Fire had minimal growth yesterday as crews monitored containment lines and finished preparations for low-intensity burning operations along Route 87.

If weather conditions remain favorable today, firefighters will ignite fuels along an 8 mile stretch of Route 87. Possible smoke impacts from these operations and a concern for safety of crews operating near the roadway will result in lane restrictions and possible long delays between mileposts 281 and 289. Pilot cars will be in use.

The current forecast shows winds carrying smoke toward the southwest in the morning hours, with a change in the afternoon that will bring smoke into Winslow and the surrounding communities. Smoky conditions may continue into Thursday.
