Maroon Fire winds down - Final Update

Maroon Fire Wildfire
News – 6/5/2019

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz., June 5, 2019 - FINAL UPDATE - Fire managers have completed all burnout operations on the 8,605-acre Maroon Fire, and a reduced number of resources will remain on scene to patrol and monitor the perimeter.

Containment will continue to increase over the next few weeks as firefighters identify and extinguish sources of heat along containment lines. Crews will continue with the removal of hazardous trees along travel corridors for public and firefighter safety.

The public is advised to enter the area with caution as there will be fire-weakened trees, burning debris and stump holes present. The public can expect to see minimal smoke from the Maroon Fire for the next couple weeks as interior pockets of vegetation and larger burning materials are slowly consumed well within the fire perimeter.
