CAMP FIRE: UTILITY COMPANIES WORKING TO RESTORE ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Release Date: Thursday, November 15, 2018
Time: 2:45 pm
We continue to appreciate the patience and support of the Butte County community as we work to make the fire area safe for re-entry. There are thousands of firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other cooperators operating around the clock to complete this necessary work.
The companies that provide utility services to the areas impacted by the fire (such as AT&T, Comcast, PG&E) are an integral part of the work that is being done. Their crews are working in coordination with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 4, alongside emergency responders, to remove hazardous trees, weakened utility poles, damaged wire, cable and piping. This work is necessary to restore essential utility services, and interfering with their work can create unnecessary and frustrating delays for the incident and members of the public that are anxious to return to the affected areas.
Our utility partners play a critical role in making the area safe. We ask the public to extend them the same courtesy and support that has been provided to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other emergency responders working to stabilize the incident.
We are working around the clock to make the area safe for re-entry and appreciate the Butte County community’s continued cooperation and support.
SAFETY MESSAGE – The public is reminded to stay vigilant on current fire conditions. Please continue to adhere to road closures and evacuation orders. Please drive slowly and yield to emergency personnel in the area. As you re-enter your property, be aware hazardous conditions may still exist.
