Pending favorable weather and fuel conditions, fire managers will be prescribe burning north of Highway 3 and the Stuart Fork arm of Trinity Lake today. The project consists of three different units, totaling 30 acres. The locations are T35N, R9W, Sec36 and T35N, R8W, Sec30 (see map on map tab)
The objectives of the Lake Forest Plantations Burn Plan are:
1. Reduce the severity of future wildfires in established conifer plantations within the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) area by reducing existing fuel and providing for a safer fire suppression environment.
2. Improve timber stand health, vigor, and resistance to fire, insects, and disease.
3. Restore fire to its natural role in the ecology of this area.
4. Reduce wildland fire costs, losses, and damage.
