10-1 Smoke Update

Pole Creek Fire Wildfire
News – 10/1/2018

S p e c i a l S t a t e m e n t
Utah Highway Patrol closed the Mirror Lake Highway ( Highway 150) from Murdock Basin Turn off ( Mile Marker 22) to Ruth Lake Campground ( Mile Marker 38) for public and firefighter safety
Fire and Weather Increasing relative humidity, cloud cover, and potential areas of precipitation will slow fire growth in all areas and aid suppression efforts. Low fire activity is expected. A temperature inversion is present that will break-up in the midmorning. Wind direction will be from the southwest, with gusts up to 25 mph at ridge tops. Tomorrow, the incident meteorologist predicts a further increase in relative humidity and likelihood of precipitation. Smoke A low level temperature inversion will increase ground-level smoke concentrations during early morning hours. This will lift as the morning progresses and allow vertical mixing of the smoke, dropping concentrations. Smoke is likely to transport to areas northeast of the Murdock fire, including Evanston and Rock Springs, WY. Air quality is expected to be in the Good range overall, with some areas experiencing drift smoke for short periods of time.
Air Monitoring Given the decreasing fire activity, temporary air monitoring stations are concluding. Payson was deactivated yesterday and the monitor near the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area will be deactivated today.

Note: Tomorrow will be the last smoke update for this fire due to decreased fire activity
