Delta Fire Update for Oct. 9, 2018

Delta Fire Wildfire
News – 10/9/2018

Today, temperatures are expected to increase with highs in the 70’s and in some areas could reach the low 80’s. Winds will be out of the northwest, with gusts up to 20 mph. Throughout the day, a drying trend will bring warmer and drier conditions potentially causing larger vegetation, such as stumps and downed logs, to produce visible smoke as they continue to smolder. Cooler conditions are expected Wednesday and Thursday with warmer and much drier conditions expected into the weekend with easterly offshore winds.

With the Delta and Hirz fire area 100% contained, the focus has shifted to suppression repair and road grading. 88 miles of suppression repair work still needs to be completed throughout the fire.

“As we reach the completion of suppression repair efforts for the Delta and Hirz fires, I’d like to take the opportunity to express my sincere gratitude on behalf of the team and all the firefighters,” states Curtis Coots, Incident Commander, Nor Cal Team 1. “I was astounded by the level of hospitality and generosity that was extended to my team, and the firefighters, by members of your community.”
