Stone Fire P.M. Update, August 27, 2018

Stone Fire Wildfire
News – 8/27/2018

ALTURAS, Calif. August 27, 2018, 7:00 p.m.

The Stone Fire remains at 39,387 acres and is 72% contained. 699 resources are assigned to the fire.

Fire behavior was relatively quiet again today, and crews continued to patrol, mop up and backhaul any excess equipment from the lines. They also continued suppression repair, which can include constructing water bars, pulling back berms, covering opened lines, and repairing any roads or culverts that were damaged during fire suppression.

Firefighters will be on the fire tonight, patrolling and extinguishing any remaining hot spots.

Residents and motorists can expect to see smoke and isolated flames as unburned islands of vegetation continue to ignite and burn. Firefighters will continue to patrol and address any hot spots or hazards, like burning trees, that could threaten containment.
