The Stone Fire remains at 39,386 acres and is 63% contained. 845 resources are assigned to the fire, including eight helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as needed. There is line around the entire fire perimeter.
The fire held well through today’s wind event. Crews worked during the day shift to assure containment in the Turner Creek drainage, and to patrol and mop up lines around the fire. They also continued suppression repair, getting equipment in place and beginning to construct water bars and repair roads and culverts that were damaged during fire suppression.
Overnight, firefighters will continue to patrol and mop up along established firelines, assessing and removing any heat sources that could impact lines.
Lighter winds are expected in the coming days, which should aid containment efforts.
Residents and motorists can expect to see smoke and isolated flames as unburned islands of vegetation continue to ignite and burn. Firefighters will continue to patrol and address any hot spots or hazards, like burning trees, that could threaten containment.
