Durango, CO 81301
Resources on site include U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management crews. A full suppression indirect strategy is being implemented for fire fighter safety on both fires. Currently 10 firefighters, two fire engines and one helicopter are on scene scouting and prepping roads for future burnout operations. Additional crews and engines will be arriving in the coming days, with a Type 3 management organization overseeing the fire. Recent rains and firefighter tactics will ensure any burnout operations are conducted in a low to moderate intensity range.
The West Glade Fire will see firefighter operations along Forest Roads 514, 512 and 501. Currently the only road closures will be on Forest Road 523. The public is asked to respect any signage related to temporary road closures for their personal safety. Roadside signs will be posted alerting the public to fire operations.
Smoke is expected to be visible near Salter Y on along Forest Road 514, Dolores River Overlook, and Dove Creek. As these fires progress, there is a chance that smoke may settle at night in the town of Dolores, Dolores River Canyon near the overlook and the surrounding area.
