Smoke Report for Klondike Fire 09/22/18

Klondike Fire Wildfire
Announcements – 9/22/2018

The Klondike Fire is 72% contained and 146,038 acres. Fire is most active at the confluence of Indigo Creek and Illinois River, Snail/Slim Creek drainages, Little Silver Creek, and Montana Springs.

Smoke Today

Winds today will be light and variable becoming Northwest as a weak, dry cold front passes through the area. Sprinkles and light rain may occur in the morning, but no wetting rains are expected. Smoke from increased activity near the Silver Mine area, sent smoke into the Merlin and Grants Pass areas in the evening and overnight hours. Smoke conditions in Agness moderated overnight; if the clouds break and inversion lifts Agness could see a few hours of smoky conditions in the afternoon. Merlin, Grants Pass, Medford, and Ashland may continue to experience some smoke and moderate air quality today, as light winds and cloudy conditions will persist until the afternoon hours. Brookings air quality should remain good.

Smoke Tomorrow

Conditions are expected to dry on Sunday into Monday, potentially increasing fire activity and smoke. A Northwest wind is expected on Sunday into Monday, which will likely send more smoke into Brookings and Gold Beach areas.
