This will be the final smoke outlook for the Klondike Fire. Air quality monitors in Gold Beach, Brookings, Agness, Selma, and Merlin will be taken offline. Air quality monitors in Cave Junction, Provolt, Grants Pass, Medford, and Ashland are permanent monitors operated by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and will remain in operation.
The Klondike Fire is 72% contained and 140,232 acres. Limited smoldering and creeping is expected today with the potential for increased fire activity around Silver Creek.
Smoke production and movement is expected to follow closely in Monday's footprint with the potential for limited additional smoke from Northern CA fires in Cave Junction, Selma, Ashland, and Medford. Agness will experience the same smoke patterns of good air quality over night and early in the morning, degrading to unhealthy to hazardous conditions midmorning through early afternoon. Expect similar fire and smoke conditions through Thursday.
