Smoke Report for Taylor Cr/Klondike Fires 9/16/2018

Klondike Fire Wildfire
Announcements – 9/16/2018

Fire

Crews continue to make good progress on containment, with the fire now 67% contained. There was no infrared (IR) flight yesterday to observe fire growth, therefore there are no updates to total acreage. A light rain system is expected to pass through the area today. Though rains will be light, the system should hold down fire activity for much of the day with just some slow creeping and smoldering.

Smoke Today

All forecast areas are seeing good air quality this morning. With the front coming in and light rains and cloud cover predicted expect good to moderate conditions throughout the day. Agness may be the exception, with the potential for unhealthy conditions late morning/early afternoon, following typical patterns. Shifting winds may blow some residual smoke toward Grants Pass, Medford, and Ashland in the late afternoon and evening but conditions are expected to remain good to moderate throughout the day.

Smoke Tomorrow

The rain system is expected to finish passing through on Sunday, resulting in lower humidities on Monday and increased smoke production compared to Sunday. With winds shifting to the NE tomorrow Brookings may get a little more smoke but Good conditions should prevail most of the day.
