The Klondike Fire has generally been adding about 2000 acres of growth per day with persistent smoldering in the interior portions contributing to smoke. Similar patterns are expected to persist today. Currently the Klondike Fire is 134,241 acres and 51% contained.
Models indicate that shifting winds will push smoke south, providing some relief to communities in the Rogue River Valley. Coastal communities should continue to see mostly good air quality. Selma and Cave Junction will likely be in the path of smoke much of the day with peaks in the early to midafternoon. Agness may see some peaks when the inversion breaks but should experience good air quality much of the day.
Similar smoke conditions are expected tomorrow.
