9/6/2018 Smoke Report for Taylor Cr/Klondike Fires

Klondike Fire Wildfire
Announcements – 9/6/2018

The Klondike Fire remains active, both along the northern portion south of Agness and in the southern extent to the east of Pearsoll Peak. Klondike: 115,404 acres and 51% contained

Taylor Creek Fire: 52,839 acres and 95% contained. The Miles Fire and the Natchez Fire continue to produce smoke, primarily as unburned fuels ignite under continued dry conditions.

Overnight smoke has settled into valleys within the Rogue River-Siskiyou NF and surrounding areas and will be slow to lift this morning. Light variable winds will shift to light westerly mid to late afternoon. This will result in smoke from the Klondike Fire to impact the communities towards the east of the fire and along the Highway 199 and I5 corridor by this evening.

Smoke is again expected to settle into valleys below active fire tomorrow morning. Similar impacts are expected on Friday with light westerly winds pushing smoke each afternoon and evening over the Highway 199 and I5 corridors.
