Smoke Outlook for 9/03 - 9/04

SW Oregon - Taylor Creek and Klondike Fires

The Klondike Fire remains active, both along the northern

portion south of Agness and in the southern extents to the east

of Pearsoll Peak.

Klondike: 106,653 acres and 42% contained

Taylor Creek: 52,839 acres and 95% contained

A new fire start occurred yesterday evening near Hugo, north

of Merlin. Additional information is not available at this time.


Northeast to north winds are expected today which will result

in smoke impacts across much of the Rogue River-Siskiyou NF

to the south of the Klondike fire. Smoke will occasionally

impact the Brookings area, especially morning and overnight.

Smoke may also impact the Gold Beach area at times. Look for

a near repeat on Tuesday.

Merlin, Grants Pass, and the Highway 199 corridor may be

impacted by smoke from the new fire near Hugo today.

Additionally, smoke impacts may also be seen at times due to

other regional fires.

Sensitive groups should take precautions and limit time

outdoors when smoke is present. Pay attention to changing

conditions and visibility, especially while driving.
