Routt National Forest revised the area covered by the Silver Creek Fire Closure Area today. The amendment reopens National Forest System lands in the southern and eastern end of the previous closure area for recreational opportunities.
The new southern closure boundary follows Forest Roads 100 and 250, with lands north of those roads closed to all public access. Forest Road 100 is closed from the Forest boundary at the south end to the Sarvis Creek Trailhead at the north end. Forest Road 250 is closed at its north end from its intersection with Forest Road 100 to its intersection with Forest Road 102.
Note that although the closure order reflects that Forest Road 100 is open from the Forest Boundary to Forest Road 101, public entry into the closure north of the road has forced fire officials to re-close Forest Road 100 at the Forest boundary.
The new eastern closure boundary follows Red Dirt Creek, with lands east and north of the creek open for recreational use; lands west of Red Dirt Creek are closed. Red Dirt Reservoir and the road to it are closed. See map for details.
