FINAL Natchez Fire Update - Oct. 7

Natchez Fire Wildfire
News – 10/7/2018

A Type 4 Incident Management Team will take command of the fire on Tuesday, October 9th. This will be the final Natchez Fire Update unless conditions change. The Fire Information Phone and email will no longer be available. Please contact the Klamath National Forest at 530-841-4485 with any questions.

Current Status:

Acres: 38,134 (no change)

Containment: 89%

Total Personnel: 25

Widespread rain over the fire has prohibited fire spread for the past week, and smoke production has been significantly reduced. Fuels continue to smolder on the southwest side of the fire. Mostly clear skies and relatively dry weather conditions are expected over the fire area for the next few days, but wet fuels will prohibit fire spread.

Activities: Crews will continue with repair and rehabilitation on the controlled fire edge and monitor the uncontrolled fire perimeter in Young’s Valley.

Closure Orders: Road closures for the Natchez Fire have been lifted on the Rogue River-Siskiyou and Klamath National Forests; however, trail and wilderness area closures remain in effect. Information about the closure area can be found at

Evacuation warning notices have been lifted for residents of three private in-holdings within National Forest System Lands near South Fork Indian creek and for the communities of Sunstar and Takilma.

Hunting Season: The B-Zone deer hunting season opened on Saturday 9/15/18 and continues until Sunday 10/21/18. Visitors can contact the ranger station nearest their destination for current information. For a high-resolution closure map, please use the following link:
