Natchez Fire Update for Oct. 4-7 - Klamath NF Road Closure revision Friday

Cooler temperatures and light rains along with higher humidity levels have precluded fire spread for the last few days, although fuels continue to smolder on the southwest side of the fire. Thursday is predicted to see slightly warmer and drier weather followed by cooler and wetter conditions on Friday and Saturday.

Activities for Thursday-Sunday (October 4th-7th): An additional crew has arrived to monitor the fire near Young’s Valley, assess needs for fire line rehabilitation, and scout for spot fires in Clear Creek. Fire line rehabilitation will continue near Poker Flat and road repair will continue on Road 18N07 west of the fire.

Closure Orders: The Natchez Fire Closure will be reduced effective Friday, October 5, 2018. Roads on the Klamath National Forest will be open. Trails and lands within the Siskiyou Wilderness remain closed. The detailed Closure Order and associated map can be found on InciWeb at:

Fire Restrictions: The fire restrictions that had been in effect for the Klamath National Forest since July 9, 2018 have been rescinded effective October 3, 2018. Please continue to be careful with fire. Remember to use the drown, stir and feel method until your campfire is out cold before leaving it.

Hunting Season: The B-Zone deer hunting season opened on Saturday 9/15/18 and continues until Sunday 10/21/18. Forest visitors need to exercise caution near the fire closure area since heavy equipment and firefighting vehicles are utilizing area roads.
