SITUATION

Current Situation:

Fire size remained the same and containment grew to 29 percent. Crews completed hand line construction and continued suppression repair efforts but were forced off the mountain due to heavy afternoon rain. Thunderstorms produced heavy rain over the eastern portion of the fire with the remainder of the fire area receiving lighter rain. These storms resulted in flash flooding and debris flows across Valley of the Falls Drive and Highway 38. State and local road crews were able to clear the debris flows in the early afternoon. Rain chances decrease in the upcoming days.

Road Status:

Highway 38 is open to all traffic.

Please use caution and drive slowly while in the vicinity. Fire personnel and equipment will still be present and working along the roads. "Be Cautious"

Trail Closures:

All portions of the San Gorgonio Wilderness managed by USDA Forest Service are closed to entry. This includes the Momyer Trail, Vivian Creek Trail, San Bernardino Peak Trail, Forsee Creek Trail, South Fork Trail, and Aspen Grove Trail.

Recreation Closures:

Day use sites along Highway 38 between Bryant Street and Valley of the Falls Drive and in Forest Falls: Mill Creek Visitor Center, Thurman Flats Picnic Area, Vivian Creek Trailhead, Big Falls, etc.
