The Rocky Mountain Blue Team will transfer command to a Type 4 Organization at 6pm today.
Fire Activities: The commitment to public safety remains high. The public can expect to see smoke and occasional flames within the fires interior until significant rainfall returns to the area. Firefighters continue to depart from the area. Local firefighters will check and recheck for any heat sources that might still be present. Despite the eastern edge of the fire getting wetting rain last night, most the fire did not see measurable rainfall. Mop up operations will continue and firefighters will patrol the fire perimeter.
Weather: Today will bring moderate temperatures and an ongoing chance of wetting rain. Where thunderstorms develop, impacted areas will have an increased chance of flash flooding and lightning. Remain cautious in areas around the burn scar. Upper and lower elevations will see temperatures in the upper 70’s.
Community Information: Huerfano County Recovery Operations Center has closed. Dumpsters are available in many areas for food disposal. Please contact your local County office for specific locations and availability.
Please remember to slow down, remain attentive, and use caution in fire impacted areas. Fire weakened trees continue to pose a hazard and flash floods are occurring in areas that receive rainfall. Questions about structures, utilities, or roadways, should be directed to the appropriate agency for guidance. Anyone with questions or information needs related to the fire should call 211 starting at 6pm. This will be the last update from the Blue Team for the Spring Creek Fire. Be safe everyone and thank you for your support!!
