Spring Creek Fire Update - July 14, 2018

Spring Creek Fire Wildfire
News – 7/14/2018

Fire Activities: The Sterns Gulch Area remains challenging due to its remote location, steep, rocky terrain and heavy fuel loads. Firefighters will continue operations and are looking for areas of opportunity to secure firelines.

As the number of firefighters begins to decline, the commitment to public safety remains high. The public will continue to see smoke and occasional flames within the fires interior. Firefighters will check and recheck areas for any remaining heat sources near structures. They will be conducting mop up operations and will continue to patrol the fire perimeter.

Repair and rehabilitation operations are ongoing. Drivers are reminded to please slow down, remain attentive, and use caution so crews can safely work. Fire weakened trees continue to pose a hazard. Anyone with questions about structures, utilities, or roadways, should contact the appropriate agency for guidance. Spring Creek Fire Management remains committed to public safety and is working with local officials and land managers to meet common goals and objectives.

Weather: Today will bring moderate temperatures. Upper elevations will see temperatures in the upper 70’s, while lower elevations will be in the upper 80’s. There is a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoons with gusts up to 20 mph.
