Scenic Loop Complex Final Update June 12, 2018

Scenic Loop Complex Wildfire
News – 6/12/2018

Southern Area Blue Type I Incident Management Team, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Jeff Davis County are working in unified command to contain multiple fires within Jeff Davis County.

Scenic Loop Complex includes six fires: 48 Tank, Bear Mountain, Brooks, Jones/Phillips, Long X 2, and Windmill.

There is minimal fire behavior with very little smoke interior. All fires are at 100% containment.

Following last night's infrared flight and more accurate mapping, the total fire size has been reduced to 19,444 acres.

Ground resources will patrol, mop-up, and improve fire line today. Crews will mop-up direct line where possible on the southern perimeter of the fires.

Air resources will patrol, working in unison with helicopters, Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs), and ground crews. They will prioritize suppression of hot spots seen on the infrared flight overnight.

Weather and Fire Behavior The heat advisory remains in place today as hot and dry conditions are expected to continue throughout the week. Temperatures are expected to be between 85-93 degrees Fahrenheit with relative humidity values between 10-15%. Winds will shift from the west/southwest direction to a southeast flow at 12-18 mph.

This will be the final fire update from the Scenic Loop Complex.
