The Southern Area Blue Type 1 Incident Management Team, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Jeff Davis County are working in unified command to contain multiple fires in Jeff Davis County.
Scenic Loop Complex includes seven fires: 48 Tank, Bear Mountain, Crooks, Jones/Phillips, Long X2, Rincon, and Windmill.
Ground resources will patrol, mop-up, and improve fire line along the active fires: Long X2, Windmill, and 48 Tank. Crews will be mopping up direct line where possible along the southern perimeter of the Long X2, Windmill, and 48 Tank fires.
Helicopters and Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) are assisting ground crews with retardant and water drops as well as monitoring fires. Air Attack is patrolling and relaying fire size and behavior, working in unison with helicopters, SEATs, and ground crews.
Weather and Fire Behavior A drying trend will begin today across the area with warm temperatures between 84-90 degrees Fahrenheit. Relative humidity will be about 15% today. Winds will be out of the west/southwest 10-15 mph. Thunderstorm activity is expected to be limited in the Davis Mountains today. Conditions are expected to remain hot and dry through early next week.
