RATTLESNAKE FIRE ON THE FORT APACHE INDIAN RESERVATION

Summary: The Rattlesnake Fire was discovered around 1:30 pm this afternoon, April 11, 2018 and is currently estimated to be 165 acres.

The fire is located about 20 miles southeast of Whiteriver in a remote location east of Rattlesnake point. No structures are threatened. The fire is burning just south of a previously prescribed burn area and moving towards the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest boundary. The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

Resources on the fire include 2 Type 6 Engines, Air Attack, Fort Apache Hotshots, and Cibecue Fuels. A type 3 team is on order along with additional resources.
