Piles Burned

Incident: Fall 2017 Prescribed Fires Prescribed Fire
Released: 11/8/2017

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, NPS firefighters burned 9 debris piles in the east end of the park. The piles were made from trees and other plant material removed to create Defensible Space around park structures. Defensible Space is created when the trees and other flammable vegetation are thinned back around structures to prevent the threat of fire to the structure. Information on how you can create defensible space for your home can be found at www.firewise.org.
