McCloud District Prescribed Burns Planned Oct. 28 & 30

The McCloud District is planning the following burns over the next several days, pending weather conditions:

• Project Name: Pilgrim
• Descriptive Location: T40N, R2W, S.12
• Type of burn: Understory Burn
• Total Acreage: 54
• Planned Ignition: October 28, 2017
• Duration of Ignition and Smoke Production: 1 day of ignition, 3 days of residual burn down
• Estimated Direction of Smoke Travel: West
• Communities or Smoke Sensitive Areas: Smoke will be visible from Hwy 89, but no impacts predicted. May be visible from McCloud with no impacts. Mt. Shasta Forest Subdivision could see light smoke impacts.

• Project Name: Harris
• Descriptive Location: T42N, R2E, S. 33
• Type of burn: Understory Burn
• Total Acreage: 80
• Planned Ignition: October 30, 2017
• Duration of Ignition and Smoke Production: 1 day of ignition, 1 day of residual burn down
• Estimated Direction of Smoke Travel: South
• Communities or Smoke Sensitive Areas: None
