More Progress on the Himes Peak Fire
WHITE RIVER NATIONAL FOREST – September 9, 2017 – The Himes Peak Fire showed very little perimeter growth on Friday. The increase in acreage reflects a band of fire that moved east along the slope and toward barren cliffs near the top of Himes Peak. Firefighters currently estimate 35% containment.
Firefighters will continue similar operations Saturday, placing retardant on the perimeter in the morning and cooling active areas in the afternoon with water.
