Helena and Fork Fires Update for September 24, 2017
Incident: Helena - Fork Fire Wildfire
The Helena Fire continues to burn near Junction City and Weaverville, CA. The Fork Fire is located north of Monument Peak and southwest of East Fork Lakes in the Trinity Alps Wilderness
NorCal Team 2 will transition command of the Helena and Fork Fires to a Type 3 Team as of 7am on Monday, September 25, 2017. Today will be the last update for the Helena and Fork Fires. However, information will be updated as needed at https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/5564 and on Facebook and Twitter. Please contact the fire information line at 530-628-0039 if you would like to be added to the update distribution list. (Updates will be provided only as conditions change.) The fire information line will continue to be staffed as needed.
The fire showed only a very few isolated hot spots yesterday well inside the current perimeter. However, residents should expect to see smoke inside the fire area as unburned islands of vegetation continue to ignite. Today, crews will keep watching for rolling material which can threaten lines, and for any other hot spots. They will improve and mop up lines as needed. The fire will be continuously staffed through the team transition and into the future.
