Detected: August 27, 2017, 2:00 p.m.

Cause: Lightning

Current Size: Aproximately 8 acres

Containment: 25%

Resources on Fire: 18 Smokejumpers and 8 local Wisdom/Wise River firefighters

Location: N 45˚41.865 W 113˚16.230

Approximately 15 miles southwest of Wise River, MT

The Stone Lake fire was detected at aproximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017. This fire

Is located high on the ridge in Whitebark Pine with rock screes nearby.

Retardant and water was dropped on the fire on Sunday, August 27, 2017, cooling

and slowing the fire growth. Smokejumpers and local Wisdom/Wise River firefighters were flown

into the fire and have completed a handline around the fire with the help of water drops from

helicopters. Numerous spots were detected outside of the main fire perimeter. Today firefighters

will continue to improve the handline and look for additional spotting.

Today there is a slight chance of showers between 11:00 a.m. and noon, then a slight chance of showers

and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 84˚. Calm winds becoming west 5-8 mph in

the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
