Crucifixion Creek, Strawberry Creek, & Scalp Fires

All area and trail closures have been rescinded for these fires. This will be the last fact sheet regarding these fires.

Location: CRUCIFIXION CREEK Approximately 10 miles west of Heart Butte, in the Badger-Two Medicine area; STRAWBERRY CREEK—Eastern edge of fire is approximately ½ mile east of Swift Dam and extends south to Sheep Creek on the state land, 17 miles west of Dupuyer; SCALP—Approximately 7 miles west of Teton Pass Ski Area.

Fire Management: Recent actions: Crucifixion Creek-Ground crews have completed fixing fence at the horse corrals and have also completed assessing and clearing trails where it was possible and safe to get to. Crews will be extracted out of the Badger Cabin area this week. Strawberry-Ground crews have finished all rehabilitation work near the Swift Dam Reservoir area. Scalp-Ground crews have gone into Wrong Creek Cabin and are removing structure protection. The Bear Top Lookout has come down from the lookout and is out of service until next summer. All area and trail closures for the Crucifixion Creek, Strawberry, and Scalp fires have been rescinded and are open. We have worked hard to clear trails of the snags left from the fires, however not all trails will be completely cleared of hazards. We urge extra precaution while visiting these areas. Please refer to the BMWC map attached to show the fire areas. Inciweb will no longer be updated after today regarding these fires.

Crucifixion Creek Fire Update (11,008 Acres): No significant fire activity to report.

Strawberry Creek Fire Update (20,894 Acres): No significant fire activity to report.

Scalp Fire Update (20,810 Acres): No significant fire activity to report.

Weather: Snow will diminish today and will be turning warmer and mostly dry Wednesday through Saturday...with only an isolated passing light shower. Strong winds will be possible Friday afternoon through Saturday. It turns cooler again Sunday/Monday with light rain/snow showers possible over the region.

This number is (406) 495-3767 and will be updated with the current closures on the Park and Alice Creek fires. The entire Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest is no longer in Stage 1 fire restrictions.
