Norse Peak Fire Announcement

Hwy 410 to reopen for night travel 8pm to 6am starting Tues August 22

Incident: Norse Peak Fire Wildfire
Released: 8/22/2017

Highway 410 to reopen to nighttime traffic.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and Norse Peak Fire managers are implementing a plan for allowing limited traffic through the Highway 410 corridor between Chinook Pass (mile post 69) and Hells Crossing (mile post 84, west of Cliffdell, WA).

Beginning Tuesday night August 22 at 8:00 p.m., Highway 410 will be opened to traffic until 6:00 a.m. Provided conditions remain acceptable, the road will be opened nightly for these same hours, until further notice. During those hours, night shift fire engines will patrol the fire and closure areas. The Highway remains closed during the day from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. this week, to allow fire crews to work safely along the highway. This plan remains in effect through Friday August 25.

For your safety and ours, if you plan to travel through this portion of Highway 410 when it is open at night, please follow these guidelines:

If conditions change to the point where this nighttime opening creates additional safety concerns, it could be discontinued.

Thank you for your patience as safe and efficient forest fire suppression operations continue to require full use of the Highway 410 corridor during daytime hours. As work progresses, if there’s opportunity to fully reopen the Highway, it will be reopened as quickly as is safely possible.
