PROHIBITIONS:

Pursuant to Title 36 CFR 261.50 (a) and (b) the following acts are prohibited on the lands as described in this Order, all within administrative boundaries of the Krassel Ranger District, Payette National Forest until further notice.

  1. Going into or being upon the Fire Area described below. 36 CFR 261.52(e)

  2. Being on the Trails described below. 36 CFR 261.SS(a)

    EXEMPTIONS:

    Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50 (e) the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

  2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

  3. Federal or State administrative personnel in the performance of an official duty.

    AREA DESCRIBED:

    Highline Fire Area: (including all trails and airstrips within the Area) is described as beginning at the mouth of Richardson Creek along the Main Salmon River in the NW¼ of Section 5 in T25N, RIOE and following the ridgeline SW through Sections 6 and 7; turning Southerly and running along the ridgeline in and through T25N, RIOE, Sections 7,18, 19, 30, 31; crossing into T24N, R9E, Section 1; heading Southwesterly through Sections 11, 12, 14, 22, 27, 28, 33; crossing into and heading Southerly through T23N, R9E, Sections 4, 9, 16 to the junction of NFS Trail #'s 020, 003 and 019; heading SE through Sections 21, 28; turning SW into Section 33; crossing into T22N, R9E, Section 5; turning Southerly through section 6, 17,20; turning Easterly in Section 21, 22; turning Southeasterly in Section 27,35; continuing Southeasterly and crossing into T21N, R9E, Section 1; into T21N, RIOE, Section 7 and turning back Southwesterly in T21N, R9E, Section 13 to NFS Trail #196 Big Creek Trail; continuing Southerly from Big Creek Trail #196 along the Section lines splitting T21N, R9E, Sections 24, 25, 36 and T21N, RIOE, Sections 19, 30, 31; crossing southerly into T20N, RIOE, Section 6; continuing Southeasterly in Sections 7, 18, 19 at the junction of Trails #032, 004 and 065 near the Cougar Lakes Basin; turning Easterly in Section 20 and heading Northeasterly into T20N, RIOE, Section 21, 22, 15, 14, 11, 12, 1; continuing East/northeasterly into T20N, Rl IE, Section 6 and along the Sections lines of Section 5; turning Southeasterly through Section 4; continuing easterly along Section lines of Section 3, 2; heading southeasterly through Section 12 to T20N, R12E; continuing Easterly through T20N, R12E, Section 7, 8, 16, 15, 10, 11, 12; continuing easterly through T20N, R13E, Sections 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1; continuing into T20N R 14 E, Section 6, 8, 9, 10 at the Big Creek Trail # 196 at the Salmon-Challis/Payette National Forest; continuing Northerly along the Forest Boundary line between the Salmon Challis NF and the Payette NF through T20N, R14E, Section 3, 4; T21N, R14E, Sections 33, 28, 29, 20, 17, 18, 7; continuing NW/Northerly into T21N, R13E, Sections 12, 1, 2; continuing Northerly into T22N, R13E, Sections 35, 26, 27, 23, 15, 10, 11, 2, 1; continuing into T23N, R14E, Sections 31, 30; heading back Northwesterly into T23N, Rl3E, Sections 24, 13, 12, 1; continuing Northerly into T24N, R13E, Sections 36, 35 to approximately 100 feet from the banks of the Main Salmon River; following the Main Salmon River approximately 100 feet from the south bank on the Payette National Forest side Northwesterly in T24N, R13E, Sections 25, 26, 27, 22, 21, 16, 17, 8, 7, 6; continuing Northwesterly into T23N, R12E, Section 1; continuing Northwesterly into T25N, R12E, Sections 36, 35, 34, 27, 28, 21, 20, 17, 18; turning Westerly into T25N, Rl lE, Sections 13, 14; heading Northwesterly in Sections 11, 10, 9, 5; crossing into T26N, Rl lE, Section 31; continuing Westerly/Northwesterly into T26N, RlOE, Section 36, 25, 26, 27, turning Southwesterly in Sections 28, 29, 32; heading Southwesterly and ending in T25N, RlOE, Section 5.

    NFS Trail #001 is described as beginning at Campbell's Ferry located in Township 25 North, Range 9 East, Section 22 and traveling northeasterly, becoming southeasterly to a point where it enters the above-described closure Area located in Township 25 North, Range 10 East, Section 18.

    Chamberlain Guard Station and Airstrip are located at: T24N, RlOE, Section 34 & 35.

    Cold Meadows Guard Station Airstrip are located at: T23N, R12E, Section 26 & 35.

    Cabin Creek Guard Station Airstrip are located at: T21N, R12E, Section 24.

    The Area, Airstrips and Trails as described above are located on National Forest System lands within the administrative and proclaimed boundaries of the Krassel Ranger District, Payette National Forest, Idaho County and Valley County; Boise Meridian.

    PURPOSE:

    The Area as described above has ongoing wildfire activity within its perimeter. The Area, Airstrips and Trails are closed for public safety and protection from hazards associated with wildfire. At this time all trails (those not identified in Blue on the Closure Map) bordering the closure Area remain open to public access.

    IMPLEMENTATION:

  1. This Order will be in effect when signed and shall remain in effect until further notice.

  2. A map identifying the closure Area and Trails is attached and made part of this Order.

  3. Any violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than

    $5,000.00 for an individual, or $10,000.00 for an organization, and/or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months. [Title 16 USC 551, Title 18 USC 3571(b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].

  4. This Order supersedes any previous Order(s) prohibiting the same or similar acts prohibited by this Order in the Area and Trails covered by this Order.

  5. Further information regarding this Order may be obtained at the Krassel Ranger District (208-634-0600) and the Payette Forest Supervisor's Office (208-634- 0700), McCall, ID.
