Yesterday’s Fire Update: Fire activity increased in the afternoon when the inversion lifted. As the fire backed down to Fall Creek Trail to the southwest, north winds aligned with the Slick Creek drainage, significantly increasing fire behavior and causing spot fires across the USFS 18 road. In the southeast, the fire was held at the Fall Creek Hiking Trail. Crews in the northeast began construction of control lines at the USFS 1817 and 1830 roads, and the northeastern portion of the fire continued to grow within the planned control lines. Mop up operations continued in the north and northwest areas of the fire.

Today’s Action: Public and firefighter safety remain the top priority. Crews will directly attack the fire where it crossed the USFS 18 road. A contingency control line will be constructed using the USFS 1821 and 109 roads. Construction of control line at the USFS 1817 and 1830 roads continues in the northeast. Crews will continue to hold and improve existing control lines in the southeast and northwest. Mop up operations will continue in the northwest.
