Fireline Rehab Continues, More Precipitation Coming

Caribou Fire: Firefighters have been taking advantage of cooler temperatures and wetting rains these last few days. Rehab work continues along contingency lines on the east and southeast edges of the fire near the West Kootenai area and mop-up continues in the Lime Creek vicinity. In the southwest section of the fire, crews are still rehabbing along Road 6810. Crews continue with hazard tree removal along the fires edge and roads adjacent to the fire. With lower temperatures and soaking rains on the fire and forecasted precipitation over the next several days will reduce fire activity.

Caribou Evacuations: None.

Caribou Fire Closures: A Closure Order remains in place for the Caribou Fire. Closure Orders and maps under the "Closures" tab on Inciweb.

Gibralter Ridge Fire: Crews continue to mop-up hot spots. Firefighters will keep rehabbing and felling snags along contingency lines, pulling construction wrap off bridges and buildings and patrolling outer perimeter of fireline throughout the day. Felling crews finished hazardous tree removal along Grave Creek, while road maintenance will continue over the next couple of days.

Gibraltar Ridge Evacuations: None.

Gibralter Ridge Closures: Grave Creek Road and Ten Lakes Recreation area are closed above the Grave Creek/Foothills Road junction. Closure Orders and maps under the "Closures" tab on Inciweb.

Weasel Fire: No private property or structures are threatened. Minimal fire activity occurred, with some fire backing and creeping in areas.

Rehab/Rehabilitation: Forest Service will be rehabilitating areas disturbed during fire suppression efforts to its natural appearance as possible. Application of fast growing native grass seeds and water bars will help prevent soil erosion and water shed damage. Fast growing grass seed will help stabilize the soil until native plants return. Saw crews and heavy equipment operators are removing hazard trees along trailheads and roads for public safety.
