Firelines Continue to Hold, Fire Growth is Minimal, No New Structures Lost.
Weather: High pressure will rebuild over the next 2 days bringing warmer temperatures with moderating wind intensity and direction.
Caribou Fire: Yesterday, Lincoln County Sheriffs’ Department escorted property owners to their homes. The western flank of the fire experienced gusty winds out of the northeast, crews pulled back to safety zones. A 100 acre slop-over of the fireline was later contained. The area is being scouted to construct a new contingency line. Structures in the Basin Creek area were evaluated and protection measures put in place. Night operations continued to patrol to keep the fire within containment lines and contain any spot fires. A public meeting was held last night in Eureka at the High School. It was well attended with a good Q & A session at the end.
Today, between 7-11 am the Sheriff’s Department will escorting property owners back into the affected area to survey their property. Heavy equipment and firefighters will continue working to build fireline to the southeast of West Kootenai. Structure Crews will continue to use resources to protect threatened property. Heavy equipment is working on the west and north sides to continue building fireline. Additional air resources are expected to arrive today.
Caribou Evacuations: A full Evacuation Order is in effect for West Kootenai area north of Tooley Lake. A Pre-evacuation Warning is in effect for West Kootenai area south of Tooley Lake and Basin Creek.

Gibralter Ridge Fire: Yesterday crews continued to mop-up, patrol and monitor the west, south and east sides of the fire. Most of the fires’ growth is where the fire has been backing down into the Williams Creek drainage.
Gibralter Ridge Evacuations: A Pre-Evacuation Warning remains in effect for the Sherman Creek, Griffith Creek, Therriault Pass Road, Stevens Creek, Glen Lake and Sinclair Creek (south/east of West Road) areas.
Gibralter Ridge Closures: Grave Creek Road and the Ten Lakes Recreation area are closed above the Grave Creek/Foothills Road junction. Closure orders and maps under the “Closures” tab on Inciweb.
Resources Threatened for both fires: Private property, structures, historic resources, recreational resources, timber, terrestrial and aquatic habitats.
