Current Fire Situation: All but one of the lightning fires that began over the past two weeks are now either under control or have been called out.
Fires that are either under control or have been called out (35 total): Bear, Big, Butter, Corral, Deerlick, Indian, Oak, Pickett, Powell, Rock, Stafford, Weaver, Gap, Kelly, Pattison, Ripstein, Hayshed, Mill, Ridge, Ward, Pierce, Grasshopper, Unicorn, Union, Hawk, Van, Logan, Tomhead, Kerlin, Middle, Cedar, Monument, Williams, Logan
The Thurston fire that was reported on Aug 13th to be 0.1 acre in size near Thurston Peak in the Trinity Alps Wilderness is no longer visible to reconnaissance aircraft flying in the area.
Active Fires currently being monitored by aircraft
Fork fire: The Fork fire was reported to be 0.5 acre in size at start on August 7th. Daily aerial reconnaissance flights have determined the fire has not grown in size since it began. The fire is located near East Fork Lake in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Forest Officials continue to monitor daily updates on the fire.
No significant lighting activity is expected over the next few days, however the Shasta-Trinity National Forest will continue to have aerial reconnaissance flights over the forest to assist with monitoring and detecting fire activity across the forest.
