The Parker 2 Fire is 7,903 acres and 80% contained.
Patrol and mop up continue today, with crews using infrared from both UAS (drones) and helicopter to identify remaining hotspots. Winds tested lines yesterday, but did not affect containment on the fire. Weather today is predicted to be cooler with showers and an occasional thunderstorm passing through the area in the morning.
Fire and Modoc National Forest Staff will continue work replacing the Middle Fork Parker Creek Bridge, which was destroyed by the fire.
A forest closure remains in effect around the Parker 2 Fire! While the perimeter is well contained, hotspots, including burning stump holes and fire-weakened trees inside the fire area are hazardous to the public, and fire traffic is still present on the roads. NorCal Team 2 will transfer command of the Parker 2 Fire back to the Modoc NF at 6 a.m. tomorrow, August 15. Starting then, the Modoc National Forest will provide updates as conditions dictate.
