The Parker 2 Fire is 7,968 acres (per infrared mapping), and 45% contained.
Crews continued today to hold and improve direct firelines around the perimeter of the Parker 2 Fire, mopping up and checking for any heat that could threaten containment lines. Firefighters are still staying overnight at Pepperdine Camp while they work on suppression in the Wilderness. They have also begun suppression repair activities, repairing roads and culverts damaged during fire suppression, adding waterbars, covering opened dozer lines, and removing berms to prevent erosion.
The persistent low pressure that has been sitting over Northern California has finally started to move out, and sunnier, drier conditions are expected tomorrow and Saturday. A cold front is predicted to move through the area Sunday night into Monday morning, bringing below-average temperatures and higher winds.
