EMERGENCY FIRE CLOSURE - Hidden Fire 2017-IDNCF-000271

Pursuant to Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations 26 l .50(b), the following act is prohibited as described below within the Stevensville Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. These restrictions are in addition to those enumerated in Subpart A, Part 261, Title 36, Code of Federal Regulations, and become effective upon signing and will remain in effect until rescinded.

The purpose of this order is to protect the public from potential harm from wildfires and firefighting operations associated with the Hidden Fire.

36 CFR 261.53 - Special Closures:

It is prohibited to enter or be upon any area which is closed for the protection of"Public Health and Safety": (Title 36 CFR 261.53(e)).

Description of Closed Areas:

This area closure applies to the Bitterroot and closes the area as described below and shown on the attached map.

All of Sections PB 41, PB42, PB43, 19, 20, 21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28 and portions of Sections 7,9,10,13,14,15,16,17,18,29,30, 31,33,34,35 BP38, PB44, PB45 T7 N., R21W.

Portions of Section 4, 5 T7N R2 l W.

Portions of Sections PB39, PB40, PB41, PB43, T7N, R23W

36 CFR 261.54 - National Forest System Roads:

All persons are prohibited from using any motor vehicle upon the National Forest System Development Road administered by the Bitterroot National Forest as described below:

Sheafman Creek Road, NFSR #438, beginning at the forest boundary and through sections 33, 28, PB42, PB45, T.7 N, R.21

w. Fred Burr Road, NFSR #733, beginning at the Junction of County Road 4820 and through portions of section 21 and Section PB4 I, T7N, R2 l W, Sections 13, 14, 24, 23 T7N, R22W

36 CFR 261.55 - National Forest System Trails:

All persons are prohibited from being on any National Forest System Trail as described below: (Title 36 CFR 26l.55(a))

Fred Burr Trail, NFST #38, from the trail head in Section 21 T7N, R2 l W to the junction ofNFST #364 in Section 1 T6N, R22W in Sections 13,14,15 16,17,1819,30,PB41 PB43 BP37 T7N., R.22Wand Section!, T6N R22Wand Section PB37, T6N, R23W.

Sheafrnan Lake, NFST #82, in sections PB42..PB 43 T7N, R21Wand 25,26, 27,28 35 T7N R22W

Including all trails encompassed by the area closure intersecting with open trails. See description of area closure above.


Pursuant to 36 CFR 26 l.50(e), the following are exempt from this order:

I. Persons with a permit issued by a forest officer specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission.

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty.

3. Persons engaged in business, trade, or occupation in the area.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559 and 3571).


A copy of this order shall be posted as prescribed within 36 CPR 261.51.
