Air Quality Smoke report, Libery Fire, Sept. 1, 2017

Liberty Fire Wildfire
News – 9/1/2017

Smoke: Westerly flow will remain aloft behind yesterday’s frontal passage, which will create breezy afternoon and evening winds’ from the west. Active fire behavior is possible, especially in areas that have been blanketed in smoke the last several days. Yesterday, Rice Ridge, Liberty, and Alice Creek added 3,667 acres, 609 acres and 153 acres respectively.

Fire: Westerly winds will continue to improve areas that have been blanketed by smoke, however the clear air will also allow more fire activity. Seeley Lake will continue to have Hazardous AQ in the morning followed by better AQ in the afternoon. Condon, Rainy Lake, Clearwater, and Lincoln maybe impacted by blowing smoke this afternoon and could be USG overall, while Arlee and Potomac should have moderate conditions today.

Other: High pressure and poor smoke dispersion will return this weekend. Anticipate reduced roadway visibility (AM) especially if RH recovers to+70% (mid- elevation valleys). For additional information please refer to Missoula City-County Health Department in the "links" below.
