Outlook for Liberty-Rice

Smoke: A dry cold front will pass this morning into early afternoon, causing windy and dry conditions through this afternoon. Active fire behavior, with the potential for rapid growth is possible, especially in areas that have been blanketed in smoke the last several days. Yesterday, Rice Ridge, Alice Creek, and Liberty added 1,143 acres, 920 acres and 897 acres respectively.

Fire: As the cold front moves through today and tomorrow, accumulated smoke should start to clear but this could be followed by new smoke. This afternoon is the best chance for less smoky air in most locations. Seeley Lake will remain Hazardous and the rest of the sites will see improvement particularly this afternoon.

Other: Red Flag Warnings will continue through today with strong westerly winds, followed by less breezy conditions tomorrow. High pressure and poor smoke dispersion will return this weekend. For additional information please refer to Missoula City-County Health Department in the "links" below.
